This app is an extension of the fraud, waste, and abuse Hotline operated by the North Carolina Office of the State Auditor. It can be used to report alleged incidents of fraud, waste, or abuse in state government or involving state funds. The Office of the State Auditor investigates allegations of improper governmental conduct by state agencies or state employees within our statutory authority. Improper governmental conduct includes alleged fraud, misappropriation, mismanagement or waste of state resources. It also includes alleged violations of state or federal law, rule or regulation in administering state or federal programs, and substantial and specific danger to the public health and safety. Submissions are routed directly to the Investigative Division of the North Carolina Office of the State Auditor. Individuals who provide information concerning fraud, waste, abuse or mismanagement of state funds may provide their name and contact information but may also remain anonymous if they wish. Your identity must be kept confidential under state law. In addition, state law provides protection from retaliation or discrimination against employees who report improper or illegal activities to the State Auditor.
